Meet Sidi Ali, 23-year-old APC National Youth Leader aspirant, as he unveils blueprint

A 23-year-old youth activist, Abdullahi Sidi Ali, has declared his intention to run for the position of All Progressives Congress, APC National Youth Leader in its upcoming National Convention.

Mr Ali, a final year student of History at Yusuf Maitama Sule University, YUMSUK, told DAILY NIGERIAN that the signing of the Not Too Young To Run bill by Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari into law inspired his ambition.

The Kano-born politician assured that if elected, he would use the privileges of his office to ensure youth inclusiveness and participation in politics, which will in turn drive youth friendly reforms.

“This is not my contest alone. Its for the youths and I call on them to rally round and elect me as National Youths Leader of our great party the APC. Democratically youths are indispensable for prosperous development and the time is rife for us to take charge of running the affairs of governance,” Mr Ali said.

“Youths have been identified as major stakeholders in the journey to national development in any developing nation.

“Nigeria, Africa’s largest and most populous nation, has a greater percentage of voting population in this category, however they do not get to participate in the electioneering that leads to the selection of those who lead them.

“We are ready to prepare the youth for a seamless transition to political participation and  leadership from our founding fathers. We will set the pace for youth inclusion in all levels of government and rejuvenate the spirit of leadership and selfless service to our nation in our youth.”

Mr Ali who agreed that economic and social factors have been a major setback for youth participation in politics.

He therefore opposed godfatherism, which he said controls rather than mentor upcoming generations on the right track.

A Three-Pronged V...

Kwankwasiyya Rubble-Rousing Short-Wave Politics

By Aliyu Dalhatu Adamu Department of Sociology, Federal University of Dutsin-Ma, Katsina State. The construction of 85km rural roads was flagged-off by the Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, on Monday 17th June 2024 at Madobi Local Government. The occasion afforded Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, Presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in the 2023 elections, an opportunity to ventilate his feelings on the forces in political contest in Kano State.  Many people believe that Kano is suffering great abuse in the tight grief of Kwankwaso as an alternate, if not the real, governor in his illegal Third Term. In his emotional outburst, the former Presidential candidate alluded to a number of issues, which many see as pointers to the inner workings of his mind, suggesting his political fortunes in the State are nose-diving or in the least taking a big hit. For instance, from the vituperations of Kwankwaso, one can easily understand that, the NNPP, as...
