Arewa Youth Assembly warns northern groups, reassures support to Akpabio/Barau

The renowned Arewa Youth Assembly has sent a strong warning to northern groups that are sponsored to disunite the region by rejecting endorsement of Senator Godswill Akpabio and Barau Jibril as Senate President and deputy respectively.

While condemning some northern groups that are calling APC and President-elect to zone Senate President to the northwest, the Director Political Affairs of Arewa Youth Assembly Hon. Musa Mujahid Zaitawa said, northwest deserved the Senate President seat, but due to religious tolerance and unity agenda, northerners have no option but to support Akpabio and Barau.

Hon. Musa Mujahid Zaitawa added that "My attention has been drawn to the activities of some northerners, The converged in Kaduna and threatened to withdraw their support for APC. This is shameful to them because nobody knows them and their association. In Fact they are not part of the people that voted for APC. Therefore people should ignore them."

According to Hon. Musa Mujahid Zaitawa "They are sponsored by one of the candidates from northwest to disrupt the peaceful emergence of Senator Godswill Akpabio and Senator Barau Jibril as the leaders of the 10th assembly. Am warning them to stop, if not we are ready to uncover their sponsors which will not augur well for them."

He pointed that "I wish to remind them that we initiated this move for the sake of unity, for the sake of religious balance, for the sake of prosperity and with the respect to shift of power from zone to zone. We work tirelessly, day and night to ensure our leaders understand what we are doing. Luckily when they understand it they embrace it and actualize it."

"We are the northerners, we know what the North wants and we are the ones to decide and speak for the North. Therefore people should only listen to us, not those that are paid to divide the north." Zaitawa explained

"Recently, Arewa Youth Assembly organized a One million youths rally in support of Akpabio and Barau in Abuja. Our rally turned out to be the topic of discussion across the country because we are the first to do so in regards to the national assembly leadership election. "

"I want to assure you that we are solidly behind President-elect Bola Tinubu, leadership of the APC and our endorsed candidates for the national assembly. We will continue to work hard until we win the battle. No surrender and no going back." Zaitawa concludes.

Kwankwasiyya Rubble-Rousing Short-Wave Politics

By Aliyu Dalhatu Adamu Department of Sociology, Federal University of Dutsin-Ma, Katsina State. The construction of 85km rural roads was flagged-off by the Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, on Monday 17th June 2024 at Madobi Local Government. The occasion afforded Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, Presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in the 2023 elections, an opportunity to ventilate his feelings on the forces in political contest in Kano State.  Many people believe that Kano is suffering great abuse in the tight grief of Kwankwaso as an alternate, if not the real, governor in his illegal Third Term. In his emotional outburst, the former Presidential candidate alluded to a number of issues, which many see as pointers to the inner workings of his mind, suggesting his political fortunes in the State are nose-diving or in the least taking a big hit. For instance, from the vituperations of Kwankwaso, one can easily understand that, the NNPP, as...
