Arewa Youth Assembly Rallies for MD REA Inclusion in COP28 Delegation

In a compelling display of advocacy, the Arewa Youth Assembly for Good Leadership commended President Bola Tinubu for including Engr. Ahmad Salihijo Ahmad from the MD Rural Electrification Agency (MDREA) in Nigeria's official delegation to the  COP28 summit in Dubai.

The youths believe that MDREA has a crucial role to play, considering its zeal and determination to address climate change in Nigeria.

Speaking to journalists in Abuja, Arewa Youth Assembly for Good Leadership National Chairman, Amb. Abdul Danbature, said the MDREA's initiatives have become a beacon of hope, showcasing how rural electrification can be a potent weapon against both energy poverty and environmental degradation.

He emphasized that the MD's role in providing clean energy solutions to remote areas is second to none.

Abdul Danbature noted that Nigeria, like many nations, faces the dual challenge of ensuring access to electricity for its rural communities while grappling with the impacts of climate change. However, since Ahmad Salihijo Ahmad assumed office, the country has recorded significant improvements in the sector.

He argued that the MD REA's track record in implementing sustainable energy projects, particularly in utilizing solar and wind power, aligns seamlessly with the global goals set by previous COP summits.

Beyond mitigating climate change, these initiatives have a profound impact on the economic and social fabric of rural communities.

Arewa Youth Assembly for Good Leadership wishes MD Rural Electrification Agency (MDREA) Engr. Ahmad Salihijo Ahmad the best outing at the summit, hoping to bring back home new ideas and development in the power sector and youth development.

By Aliyu Dalhatu Adamu Department of Sociology, Federal University of Dutsin-Ma, Katsina State. The construction of 85km rural roads was flagged-off by the Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, on Monday 17th June 2024 at Madobi Local Government. The occasion afforded Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, Presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in the 2023 elections, an opportunity to ventilate his feelings on the forces in political contest in Kano State.  Many people believe that Kano is suffering great abuse in the tight grief of Kwankwaso as an alternate, if not the real, governor in his illegal Third Term. In his emotional outburst, the former Presidential candidate alluded to a number of issues, which many see as pointers to the inner workings of his mind, suggesting his political fortunes in the State are nose-diving or in the least taking a big hit. For instance, from the vituperations of Kwankwaso, one can easily understand that, the NNPP, as...
