Arewa Youth Assembly reassures support to CDS Christopher Musa

 By Suhaib Auwal

A coalition of youth and civil society groups in the North, led by the Arewa Youth Assembly for Good Leadership, has pledged its support for the Chief of Defence Staff, Major General Christopher Musa.

The coalition held a press briefing in Abuja on Saturday, where it praised President Bola Tinubu for appointing Musa, a native of Zangon Kataf in Kaduna State, as the leader of the nation's armed forces.

The speaker of the Arewa Youth Assembly, Ambassador Abdul Danbature, said that Musa's appointment was a sign of the president's commitment to fairness, justice and equity in sharing power among the six geopolitical zones of the country.

He also said that Musa's appointment was a recognition of his remarkable military career, which lasted over three decades and saw him serve in various roles, including as the commander of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) against Boko Haram terrorists.

Danbature expressed confidence that Musa would use his experience and professionalism to address the security challenges facing the country, especially the insurgency in the North-East, banditry in the North-West, and secessionist agitations in the South-East.

He urged the CDS to collaborate with the other service chiefs, the National Security Adviser, and the Minister of Defence, to ensure the restoration of peace and stability in the country.

He also called on the CDS to ensure the welfare and motivation of the soldiers, who are risking their lives to protect the nation's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Kwankwasiyya Rubble-Rousing Short-Wave Politics

By Aliyu Dalhatu Adamu Department of Sociology, Federal University of Dutsin-Ma, Katsina State. The construction of 85km rural roads was flagged-off by the Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, on Monday 17th June 2024 at Madobi Local Government. The occasion afforded Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, Presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in the 2023 elections, an opportunity to ventilate his feelings on the forces in political contest in Kano State.  Many people believe that Kano is suffering great abuse in the tight grief of Kwankwaso as an alternate, if not the real, governor in his illegal Third Term. In his emotional outburst, the former Presidential candidate alluded to a number of issues, which many see as pointers to the inner workings of his mind, suggesting his political fortunes in the State are nose-diving or in the least taking a big hit. For instance, from the vituperations of Kwankwaso, one can easily understand that, the NNPP, as...
