NNPC GCEO Kyari Gets Vote of Confidence from Coalition of Groups, Ex-Millitant Leaders

The Group General Manager of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPC-L), Mele Kolo Kyari, has received a vote of confidence from a coalition of civil society groups and ex-militant leaders from across the country. 

The groups also endorsed Amb. Abdul Dambature, the President of Arewa Youths for Good Leadership, as the National Coordinator of the Almagametion of Civil Society Groups in Nigeria.


The endorsement came after an emergency meeting of the groups, under the banner of the Association of Concerned Citizens of the Six Geo-political Zones in Nigeria and the National Association of Niger Delta Ex-militant Leaders, held in Nanet Suits, Abuja on February 12, 2024. 

In a communique issued at the end of the meeting, the groups pledged their support and cooperation to the leadership of Kyari and Dambature, and vowed not to engage in any form of protest or violence over the affairs of the NNPC.

The groups lauded Kyari for his remarkable achievements as the GCEO of NNPC-L, such as:


- The completion of the AKK Pipeline Project, which will boost gas supply and power generation in the country¹².

- The passage of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA), which will usher in a new era of transparency, accountability and performance excellence in the oil and gas sector³⁴.

- The incorporation of NNPC Limited under CAMA, which will make the national oil company more competitive and profitable.

- The uninterrupted fuel supply, which has ensured stability and affordability of petroleum products for Nigerians .


The groups also commended Dambature for his role in promoting good leadership and national unity among the youths of the country. 

They urged other Nigerians to join them in supporting the efforts of NNPC-L and Dambature in transforming the oil and gas sector and enhancing the socio-economic development of the country.
