The Arewa Youths Assembly has lauded labor unions for their unwavering commitment to upholding standards during the recent strike action.
In a statement issued by the association's leader, Amb. Abdul Danbature, the youths expressed appreciation for the unions' commendable efforts in negotiating and reaching an agreement with relevant authorities.
However, the Arewa Youths Assembly also issued a stern warning to state governors who have failed to pay the minimum wage.
Governor Dauda Lawan of Zamfara State came under particular scrutiny, as the assembly highlighted that his administration continues to pay a mere 8,000 Naira as the minimum wage—an amount deemed unacceptable by the youths.
"We give Governor Dauda one month to rectify this situation," stated Abdul Danbature.
"If he fails to comply, we are prepared to take serious action, including shutting down the state."
The Arewa Youths Assembly's stance underscores the importance of fair wages and accountability in governance, signaling their resolve to advocate for workers' rights across the region.
