Ibrahim Shekarau: The Epitome of Ethical Leadership, most suitable candidate for 2027 Presidency

By Sule Sani Sule

As Nigeria gears up for the 2027 presidential elections, one name stands out as a beacon of hope for ethical leadership: Ibrahim Shekarau. From humble beginnings as a classroom teacher to becoming the Chief Security Officer of Kano State as its governor, Shekarau's exceptional leadership qualities make him an outstanding candidate.

Shekarau's reputation as an honest, selfless, and principled individual precedes him. His dedication to public service is evident in his actions, such as repairing school chairs with his own salary ¹. As a teacher, he was posted to schools with disciplinary issues, where his revolutionary approach and iconoclastic thinking inspired hope.

As Kano State Governor from 2003 to 2011, Shekarau demonstrated unwavering commitment to justice and fairness. Despite opposition, he upheld the constitutional right of the Chairman of the State Electoral Board to complete his tenure ¹. He also paid benefits to former members of the house of assembly and local government chairmen, despite their opposition affiliation.

Shekarau's tenure was marked by zero corruption cases, as verified by the EFCC and courts ¹. His refusal to tamper with local government funds ensured autonomy and earned him recognition. The construction of West Africa's largest water treatment plant, Tamburawa, providing 150 million liters daily, is a testament to his vision.

Under Shekarau's leadership, Kano State paid off 20-year pension debts, generating over N9 billion and acquiring assets for the pension board ¹. His commitment to civil servants' welfare ensured no gratuity arrears from 2004 to 2011.

Shekarau's public declaration of never receiving tokens from contractors or appointees underscores his integrity ¹. If Nigeria seeks a leader who understands the people's needs and sympathizes with their struggles, Senator Ibrahim Shekarau is an exemplary choice. His leadership style echoes that of former President Umaru Musa Yar'Adua.

As Nigeria navigates the 2027 presidential elections, Ibrahim Shekarau's exceptional leadership qualities make him a compelling candidate. His unwavering commitment to justice, integrity, and public welfare positions him as a beacon of hope for a better Nigeria.

Kwankwasiyya Rubble-Rousing Short-Wave Politics

By Aliyu Dalhatu Adamu Department of Sociology, Federal University of Dutsin-Ma, Katsina State. The construction of 85km rural roads was flagged-off by the Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, on Monday 17th June 2024 at Madobi Local Government. The occasion afforded Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, Presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in the 2023 elections, an opportunity to ventilate his feelings on the forces in political contest in Kano State.  Many people believe that Kano is suffering great abuse in the tight grief of Kwankwaso as an alternate, if not the real, governor in his illegal Third Term. In his emotional outburst, the former Presidential candidate alluded to a number of issues, which many see as pointers to the inner workings of his mind, suggesting his political fortunes in the State are nose-diving or in the least taking a big hit. For instance, from the vituperations of Kwankwaso, one can easily understand that, the NNPP, as...
