Tax Reform Bill: Kano Citizens stands with Barau, Warns Ndume

By Suhaib Auwal   The Kano Concerned Citizens, wish to address the ongoing misinformation and unwarranted accusations directed at the Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin, following the recent heated debate in the Senate over the tax reform bill. It has come to our attention that certain individuals, led by Senator Ali Ndume, have sought to use this debate to tarnish Senator Barau’s reputation and incite public sentiment against him. This is not only unfair but also detrimental to the unity and progress of our nation. For clarity, Senator Barau Jibrin’s role during the plenary was purely administrative. As the presiding officer, he read a paper submitted by the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) regarding the tax reform bill. This action is a routine legislative responsibility and does not equate to support or sponsorship of the bill. It is important to emphasize that Senator Barau did not introduce the bill, nor did he express his personal opinion on it .Instead...

In Defense of Sen. Barau: Misconceptions Over the Tax Reform Bill

By Suhaib Auwal   In the aftermath of the heated Senate plenary on the tax reform bill, it has become necessary to address the growing misinformation surrounding Senator Barau Jibrin, the Deputy Senate President. The debate, dominated by Senator Ali Ndume’s vocal opposition, has been wrongly framed as a North versus South issue, with Barau unfairly portrayed as a villain. However, a closer examination of the events reveals a different story one of procedural duty and national interest rather than betrayal or regional bias. Setting the Record Straight To begin with, Senator Barau’s role in the plenary was purely administrative. As the presiding officer, his duty was to read the communication from the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) on the tax reform bill. Contrary to popular belief, Barau did not draft the bill, nor did he advocate for its immediate passage. His responsibility was to facilitate the Senate’s deliberation on the matter, ensuring transparency and adhe...

Unmasking Excellence : Idris Abdulkadir Zare's (Jagora) Leadership Style

By Abba Anwar  Without any doubt, Idris Abdulkadir Zare's name rings bell in Kano politics, particularly, in his political zone, Kano South. It rings bell not because he is terrifying, but simply because, his name, alone, signifies examplary leadership, selfless service to humanity, genuine loyalty and un-arguable commitment for the survival of the party, All Progressives Congress (APC), in this context. While he is not a seeker of any elective public office, or party position, as I study him and his political antecedents, he believes, supporting party leadership and followership is one of the surest ways of strengthening the party, against all odds. I kindly call my readers to go to Rogo and substantiate my submission. Here is a lone Jagora (leader) who spends from his hard earned resources to support the party without thinking of getting anything from anybody, no matter how highly placed, that person could be. His magnanimous touches go beyond party lines. Go to Rogo and s...
