NWDC and Ministry of Housing to Collaborate on Urban Development, Affordable Housing

The Managing Director of the Northwest Development Commission (NWDC), Prof. Shehu Abdullahi Ma'aji, has expressed his commitment to collaborating with the Honorable Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Rt. Hon. Yusuf Abdullahi Ata, to address critical challenges in urban development and affordable housing in the North West region of Nigeria.

Prof. Ma'aji made this known during a meeting with the minister at his office in Abuja. 

The high-level discussion centered on exploring avenues for cooperation to tackle housing deficits and drive impactful urban development projects in the region.

Prof. Ma'aji said “This meeting marks a significant step toward exploring strategic collaboration with the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development."

He added that "We are excited about the potential to contribute our resources and expertise to initiatives that will bring transformative change to our communities. Together, we can drive impactful projects that address housing challenges and promote urban renewal.”

The dialogue between the two leaders was described as inspiring and forward-looking, highlighting their shared commitment to enhancing the quality of life for citizens through sustainable housing and infrastructure development.

Rt. Hon. Yusuf Abdullahi Ata commended NWDC’s proactive approach and expressed optimism about the potential partnership.

He underscored the importance of a united effort in overcoming the region’s pressing challenges in urbanization and housing.

According to the minister “This collaboration has the potential to create meaningful, sustainable solutions that will significantly improve urban development and housing in the North West.”

The meeting signifies the beginning of a promising partnership aimed at fostering innovative solutions to improve urban infrastructure and expand access to affordable housing. Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to working together to shape a better future for the region.
