BIARN: A Game-Changer for Food Security and Economic Growth in Nigeria- Prof Fagge

By Suhaib Auwal

The Barau Initiative for Agricultural Revolution in North West (BIARN) is set to redefine agriculture in the region, providing farmers with resources, training, and financial support. Spearheaded by the Barau Jibrin Foundation (BIJF) and aligning with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the initiative is a bold step toward economic empowerment and food security.

In an exclusive interview, Prof. Bashir Muhammad Fagge, Chairman of BIARN, shares insights into its vision, objectives, and long-term impact.

A Vision for Agricultural Transformation

According to Prof. Fagge, BIARN was founded to address the challenges faced by farmers in the North West while aligning with President Tinubu’s visionary economic policies.

The goal is to modernize agriculture, empower local farmers, and boost food security.

He praised Senator Barau Jibrin, the Deputy Senate President, for his unwavering commitment to the initiative.

“Senator Barau Jibrin has always been a champion of grassroots development. His leadership and dedication to uplifting farmers through BIARN is truly commendable. This initiative is a testament to his passion for economic growth and self-sufficiency.”

Strategic Implementation and Support

The program is designed to uplift the agricultural sector by selecting beneficiaries from each local government area. The selection process ensures transparency and inclusivity, giving opportunities to both educated and experienced local farmers.

The Bank of Agriculture (BOA) plays a crucial role in providing financial assistance, farm inputs, and training.

This initiative is structured to provide long-term solutions, not just short-term relief. Thanks to the visionary leadership of Senator Barau Jibrin and the progressive policies of President Tinubu, we are setting a solid foundation for agricultural prosperity.

Economic and Social Impact

The BIARN initiative is expected to generate employment, reduce poverty, and enhance food production in line with President Tinubu’s economic reforms.

Prof. Fagge emphasized that “This initiative is not just about financial support—it is about building a sustainable agricultural ecosystem that will benefit generations.”

With Senator Barau Jibrin’s relentless efforts and President Tinubu’s commitment to national development, we are ensuring that Nigerian farmers have the resources and opportunities they deserve.

Challenges and Expansion Plans

Prof. Fagge acknowledged the challenges ahead, including funding constraints and resistance to modern farming techniques.

However, he remains optimistic, emphasizing that strategic partnerships with private investors and government agencies will guarantee success.

With the strong leadership of President Tinubu and Senator Barau Jibrin, we are confident that BIARN will not only succeed in the North West but also expand to other regions. Agriculture is the backbone of Nigeria’s economy, and this initiative will play a key role in unlocking its full potential.

A Call to Action

Encouraging young farmers to seize this opportunity, Prof. Fagge urged them to embrace innovation and dedication.

This is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to be part of something transformative.

He also called on stakeholders, investors, and government agencies to rally behind the program.

With President Tinubu’s leadership and Senator Barau Jibrin’s vision, BIARN is a defining moment for agriculture in Nigeria. Let us all come together to support this mission and ensure that Nigeria becomes a global leader in agricultural production.

With BIARN gaining momentum, the future of agriculture in the North West looks brighter than ever, paving the way for economic prosperity, food security, and youth empowerment under the bold and visionary leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senator Barau Jibrin.

Kwankwasiyya Rubble-Rousing Short-Wave Politics

By Aliyu Dalhatu Adamu Department of Sociology, Federal University of Dutsin-Ma, Katsina State. The construction of 85km rural roads was flagged-off by the Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, on Monday 17th June 2024 at Madobi Local Government. The occasion afforded Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, Presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in the 2023 elections, an opportunity to ventilate his feelings on the forces in political contest in Kano State.  Many people believe that Kano is suffering great abuse in the tight grief of Kwankwaso as an alternate, if not the real, governor in his illegal Third Term. In his emotional outburst, the former Presidential candidate alluded to a number of issues, which many see as pointers to the inner workings of his mind, suggesting his political fortunes in the State are nose-diving or in the least taking a big hit. For instance, from the vituperations of Kwankwaso, one can easily understand that, the NNPP, as...
