AA Zaura Condemns Bandits’ Attacks in Kano Communities, Calls for Immediate and Decisive Security Action

By Suhaib Auwal

The All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain and Kano governorship hopeful, Abdulkarim Abdussalam Zaura (AA Zaura), has condemned the renewed attacks by bandits in some parts of Kano State, calling on security agencies to intensify operations and restore peace in the affected communities.

Reacting to the recent incursion by bandits in Yankamaye village in Tsanyawa LGA, where a woman was reportedly killed and three persons abducted, Zaura described the incident as disturbing and unacceptable, urging security operatives to “move swiftly and decisively” against the perpetrators.

Zaura lamented that the attacks came barely days after a similar assault in Biresawa village, also in Tsanyawa LGA, stressing the need for urgent and coordinated action to protect residents.

Zaura said “The reports of another attack in Yankamaye, leading to the death of an innocent woman and the kidnapping of three others, are deeply troubling. These communities have suffered repeated incursions from criminal elements who flee from military pressure in neighbouring states.”

Adding that “I call on our security agencies to redouble their efforts, intensify intelligence gathering, and take the battle directly to these criminals. Kano must never become a safe haven for bandits. The lives and property of our people must remain protected at all costs.”

Zaura reaffirmed his commitment to a safer Kano, warning that no group of criminals should be allowed to destabilise peaceful communities. He expressed condolences to the families affected and urged residents to remain vigilant while cooperating with security personnel.

“The ongoing attacks must stop immediately. Our communities deserve peace, safety, and stability. I strongly believe that, with coordinated action and community support, these criminals will be defeated,” Zaura concluded.

Kwankwasiyya Rubble-Rousing Short-Wave Politics

By Aliyu Dalhatu Adamu Department of Sociology, Federal University of Dutsin-Ma, Katsina State. The construction of 85km rural roads was flagged-off by the Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, on Monday 17th June 2024 at Madobi Local Government. The occasion afforded Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, Presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in the 2023 elections, an opportunity to ventilate his feelings on the forces in political contest in Kano State.  Many people believe that Kano is suffering great abuse in the tight grief of Kwankwaso as an alternate, if not the real, governor in his illegal Third Term. In his emotional outburst, the former Presidential candidate alluded to a number of issues, which many see as pointers to the inner workings of his mind, suggesting his political fortunes in the State are nose-diving or in the least taking a big hit. For instance, from the vituperations of Kwankwaso, one can easily understand that, the NNPP, as...
