Former Kano LG Chairmen Call for Unity, Warn Against Early Endorsements in APC

The Association of Former Local Government Chairmen in Kano State (ALGON Integrity Group) has called on members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to remain focused and united, stressing that this is not the right time to endorse any governorship aspirant ahead of the 2027 elections.

Speaking through its Chairman and former Kumbotso LGA boss, Hassan Garban Kauye Farawa, the group cautioned party stakeholders against actions capable of creating division within the APC. Farawa said the party must prioritize strengthening its internal structures and consolidating its support base, especially as Kano remains a strategic political battleground.

Farawa dismissed reports alleging that former LG chairmen had endorsed the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, for the 2027 governorship race. He described the claims as misleading and capable of causing unnecessary tension within the party.

According to him, the focus of every committed APC stakeholder at this stage should be unity, reconciliation, and rebuilding—not premature endorsements that could polarize members.

He emphasized that the APC in Kano has a clear and respected leadership hierarchy, led by former governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and other senior figures, who are responsible for guiding the party toward an orderly candidate selection process at the appropriate time.

Farawa added that the group remains committed to working collectively for the APC’s success and urged all members to refrain from spreading or supporting divisive political narratives.

He concluded by reminding party loyalists that the 2027 elections are still far away and that APC’s strength will come from discipline, patience, and unity—not from early political maneuvering.

Kwankwasiyya Rubble-Rousing Short-Wave Politics

By Aliyu Dalhatu Adamu Department of Sociology, Federal University of Dutsin-Ma, Katsina State. The construction of 85km rural roads was flagged-off by the Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, on Monday 17th June 2024 at Madobi Local Government. The occasion afforded Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, Presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in the 2023 elections, an opportunity to ventilate his feelings on the forces in political contest in Kano State.  Many people believe that Kano is suffering great abuse in the tight grief of Kwankwaso as an alternate, if not the real, governor in his illegal Third Term. In his emotional outburst, the former Presidential candidate alluded to a number of issues, which many see as pointers to the inner workings of his mind, suggesting his political fortunes in the State are nose-diving or in the least taking a big hit. For instance, from the vituperations of Kwankwaso, one can easily understand that, the NNPP, as...
