Kano APC’s Crisis and Senator Barau's Masterclass in Political Maturity

By Ado Isa Jagaba The persistent turmoil within the Kano State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has, once again, starkly exposed the deep-seated faultlines dividing the party. Yet, amidst this chaos, a quieter but far more instructive story is unfolding—the dignified restrain and profound political maturity demonstrated by the Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, CFR, in the face of sustained internal betrayal. In 2021, during the crucial APC State Congress, Senator Barau, then a serving Senator and Chairman of the powerful Senate Committee on Appropriations, was systematically denied any meaningful influence. He was refused even an ex-officio slot at the ward, local-government, and state levels. Furthermore, his known allies were barred from serving as supervisory councillors, political advisers, or special assistants, with any identified supporter being ruthlessly sidelined. However, instead of engaging in public retaliation or fueling the interna...

Former Kano LG Chairmen Call for Unity, Warn Against Early Endorsements in APC

The Association of Former Local Government Chairmen in Kano State (ALGON Integrity Group) has called on members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to remain focused and united, stressing that this is not the right time to endorse any governorship aspirant ahead of the 2027 elections. Speaking through its Chairman and former Kumbotso LGA boss, Hassan Garban Kauye Farawa, the group cautioned party stakeholders against actions capable of creating division within the APC. Farawa said the party must prioritize strengthening its internal structures and consolidating its support base, especially as Kano remains a strategic political battleground. Farawa dismissed reports alleging that former LG chairmen had endorsed the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, for the 2027 governorship race. He described the claims as misleading and capable of causing unnecessary tension within the party. According to him, the focus of every committed APC stakeholder at this stage sho...

Re-Ex commissioner chides NNPP Government on poor budget performance in 2025

By Umar Haruna Doguwa It baffles me to read the recent press statement by one Muhammad Garba, chief of staff to the removed APC Acting National Chairman making several false allegations on the credible Abba-led administration’s 2025 budget performance. Generally, the claims are selective, politically motivated and a mere renting of a dismissed politician on exile that omit critical facts about the sad realities inherited by the current government from the disgraced Ganduje’s administration and the progress made within this short period under review. 1. Selective Interpretation of Budget Performance It is misleading to evaluate capital budget performance for January–September without acknowledging the following realities: • Budget releases are phased, not done in a single cycle. • Many capital projects took off fully only in Q3 and Q4, so judging performance before the completion of the fiscal year presents a distorted picture. 2. Water Sector: Facts Ignored While Garba points to a 13% ...

Sadiq Sango Hails AA Zaura’s “Streets to Straight” Project for Transforming Vulnerable Youths

By Suhaib Auwal   The Tinubu‑AA Zaura Project 2027 has commended Abdussalam Abdulkarim Zaura (popularly “AA Zaura”) and his Foundation for their bold and timely initiative to rehabilitate vulnerable youths across Northern Nigeria. In a statement issued in Kano, the project coordinator, Hon. Sadiq Ali Sango, lauded the Foundation’s partnership with the international humanitarian group Sadakatasi as a “turning point in the fight against youth disillusionment, street‑connectedness, and substance abuse.” The collaboration, announced recently in Istanbul, is designed to support the Foundation’s flagship “Streets to Straight” project, aimed at rehabilitating socially displaced adolescents, drug‑dependent youths, and former gang members. Sango emphasized that aligning the Tinubu‑AA Zaura Project 2027 with “Streets to Straight” is a strategic move to reinforce the broader national agenda of social reformation and youth empowerment under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
