Kano Stands Still: How Amb. Ogan Boye Mobilized Thousands for First Lady’s Historic Visit

By Abba Anwar

When the motorcade of Her Excellency, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, pulled into the ancient city of Kano for the Energize Commercialization Now initiative, she wasn't just met with official protocol; she was met with a wall of human energy. At the center of this spectacular reception stood one man: Ambassador Yusuf Imam Ogan Boye.

The visit of the First Lady is always a significant barometer for a leader's popularity, but the mobilization witnessed yesterday transformed a standard official visit into a powerful referendum on leadership and loyalty.

While the First Lady came to deploy economic empowerment tools for the North West, Amb. Ogan Boye deployed something equally vital: the unshakeable spirit of the Kano youth. Leading thousands of supporters, Ogan Boye demonstrated that his influence isn't just administrative it is deeply personal.

The sheer scale of the turnout sent a clear message to the Presidency: Kano is awake, organized, and ready.

The peaceful nature of such a massive gathering is a testament to Ogan Boye's command and the high level of discipline he has instilled in his followers.

For Her Excellency, the warmth of the reception provided a vivid snapshot of the grassroots support for the Tinubu administration.

Ogan Boye acted as the perfect bridge, translating the President’s "Renewed Hope" agenda into a language the street understands and celebrates.

Why Ogan Boye’s Role was Pivotal:

• A Unified Front: He successfully synchronized local governance with national aspirations, showing the First Lady that the APC’s vision has a fierce protector in Kano.

• Youth Command: By mobilizing the younger demographic, he proved that the future of the party is secure in the hands of leaders who actually have their ears to the ground.

• Political Insurance: This level of mobilization serves as a "pre-campaign" victory, signaling that for the 2027 journey, Ogan Boye is the engine room that will drive the President's success in the North.

The Verdict: A Great Mobilizer

The success of the First Lady’s visit was not an accident; it was the result of the tireless effort and strategic brilliance of the Nassarawa Local Government Chairman. In the eyes of the people—and certainly in the eyes of the visiting delegation—Ogan Boye has reaffirmed his status as the paramount youth leader in Kano and beyond.

If the goal was to show Her Excellency that Kano stands solidly behind the President, Ogan Boye didn’t just meet the mark—he shattered it. He has proven himself to be the most vital asset in the North West, a leader who can turn an official visit into a movement.

Kwankwasiyya Rubble-Rousing Short-Wave Politics

By Aliyu Dalhatu Adamu Department of Sociology, Federal University of Dutsin-Ma, Katsina State. The construction of 85km rural roads was flagged-off by the Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, on Monday 17th June 2024 at Madobi Local Government. The occasion afforded Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, Presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in the 2023 elections, an opportunity to ventilate his feelings on the forces in political contest in Kano State.  Many people believe that Kano is suffering great abuse in the tight grief of Kwankwaso as an alternate, if not the real, governor in his illegal Third Term. In his emotional outburst, the former Presidential candidate alluded to a number of issues, which many see as pointers to the inner workings of his mind, suggesting his political fortunes in the State are nose-diving or in the least taking a big hit. For instance, from the vituperations of Kwankwaso, one can easily understand that, the NNPP, as...
