 By Suhaib Auwal

An elder statesman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano and Special Adviser to the Deputy Senate President, Hamza Darma, has described the high-profile attendance at the wedding of Senator Barau I. Jibrin’s children as a reflection of his exceptional political prowess and his deep connection with both leaders and the masses.

Speaking to journalists in Abuja, Darma said the turnout of dignitaries from across Nigeria underscored Senator Barau’s ability to foster unity and goodwill among a diverse range of stakeholders in the country.

The wedding, held on Friday at the National Mosque in Abuja, was a significant event that attracted top government officials, traditional rulers, and influential figures. Senator Barau’s son, Jibrin Barau I. Jibrin (Abba), married Maryam Nasir Ado Bayero, while his daughter, Aisha Barau I. Jibrin, tied the knot with Engineer Abubakar Abdulmunaf Yunusa Sarina.

Among the dignitaries in attendance were President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt Hon Tajudeen Abbas, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the APC National Chairman, governors, senators, ministers, business leaders, and traditional and religious leaders, among others.

Hamza Darma emphasized that the wedding was not just a family celebration but also a demonstration of Senator Barau’s commitment to unity and the ties that bind the Nigerian people.

“The presence of dignitaries cutting across political affiliations, traditional institutions, and business circles shows that Senator Barau is a bridge-builder. He is respected by leaders and loved by the masses.”

He also noted the overwhelming turnout of constituents from Kano North, who traveled to Abuja to witness the event, further illustrating the grassroots support Senator Barau enjoys.

The event showcased Senator Barau’s ability to unite leaders from diverse backgrounds, reinforcing his role as a pivotal figure in Nigeria’s sociopolitical landscape.

“The gathering was a testament to the unity and love that Senator Barau embodies, as well as his enduring relationships with leaders across all sectors,” Darma concluded.

The grand occasion not only marked a significant milestone for the Barau family but also highlighted the Deputy Senate President’s stature as a leader who champions unity, collaboration, and progress for the nation.

Kwankwasiyya Rubble-Rousing Short-Wave Politics

By Aliyu Dalhatu Adamu Department of Sociology, Federal University of Dutsin-Ma, Katsina State. The construction of 85km rural roads was flagged-off by the Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, on Monday 17th June 2024 at Madobi Local Government. The occasion afforded Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, Presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in the 2023 elections, an opportunity to ventilate his feelings on the forces in political contest in Kano State.  Many people believe that Kano is suffering great abuse in the tight grief of Kwankwaso as an alternate, if not the real, governor in his illegal Third Term. In his emotional outburst, the former Presidential candidate alluded to a number of issues, which many see as pointers to the inner workings of his mind, suggesting his political fortunes in the State are nose-diving or in the least taking a big hit. For instance, from the vituperations of Kwankwaso, one can easily understand that, the NNPP, as...
